Experts say about our products

"The teachings of Hildegard of Bingen are as relevant today as ever. Among the healing foods, she particularly mentions the positive properties of the bear root powder. She writes: "bear root powder with cooked pear puree is a very effective remedy for migraines." For gut rehabilitation after surgeries and antibiotic treatments, it regenerates the compromised gut flora."

"When I got to know the company BitterKraft Natural Products and BitterKraft!Original about 10 years ago, it was a true blessing for the successes of our practice. Since then, we have been using the Bitterkraft Drops and the Herbal Pillows for Liver Wraps as part of liver fasting for our patients with diet-related fatty liver, a condition that has rapidly increased in prevalence over the last 5 years."

"I love the Bitterkraft!Original Juices. They are always on my nightstands. A splash of fresh lemon does me incredibly good. Not too bitter and not too sweet. I find the new way of incorporating bitter substances very well executed. Just right."
Guide to Naturopathy

Why is Hildegard of Bingen still so well-known today?
Hildegard von Bingen (1098 – 1179), one of the most significant women of the German Middle Ages, is still known worldwide today and her knowledge is current. The nun founded a monastery near Bingen around 1150 and wrote medical, scientific, and theological books. For us today, her extensive medical-scientific work is particularly interesting:
In the “Book of Compound Remedies on Causes, Signs, and Cures of Diseases,” Hildegard von Bingen deals with human diseases from head to toe and provides instructions on healthy living. The “Book of Simple Remedies Organized According to the Creation Account” encompasses Hildegard's doctrine of remedies, which was revolutionary for its time and in which she primarily describes native medicinal and useful plants and their properties – a total of about 300 species, including over 20 foreign plants and spices – such as pepper, camphor, clove, date, and nutmeg – which Hildegard could not have known as living plants.
Overall, Hildegard von Bingen's healing knowledge is less about curing and therapeutic correction of diseases and more about turning towards a moderate, meaningful, and healthy lifestyle; thus, a very modern holistic thinking.
We at Bitterkraft want to help preserve this ancient knowledge of Hildegard von Bingen and pass on her insights and recipes as assistance for self-help.
